The Cowboy Model CB-16 hydraulic clicker press offers an excellent combination of value and versatility.  This clicker press offers a higher tonnage alternative to other lower rated machines in the market, and yet the price of the leather clicker press is very affordable.  This hydraulic swing beam clicker press can be used to both emboss leather using an embossing plate and cut leather using steel rule cutting dies.

The cowboy CB-32 belt strap embossing machine represents and excellent value for persons seeking to emboss belts and straps.  The CB-32 is an ideal machine for embossing patterns on all types of strap goods, particularly leather waist belts and gun belts.

The CB-32 uses a rotary style embossing mold that can be made up to three inches in diameter.  A three inch diameter roll will allow for more than 9 inches of linear embossing along the surface of the strap.  This allows the user to emboss very complex and intricate patterns that do not repeat along the belt very often.  The absence of a constantly repeating pattern provides a look that is more in line with a hand tooled belt or strap as opposed to one that looks as though it were done with a machine.

Embossing rolls can be made in diameters up to 3 inches and widths as small as 1/8 inch to 3 inches wide.

The CB-32 belt and strap embossing machine features a variable speed feed design that allows the user to regulate how fast the belt passes through the machine.  This allows the user to control the depth and clarity of the embossed pattern to suit both the type of leather and the pattern being embossed.  The machine also features a variably heated roller that allows the user to select different heat levels for the embossing roll.  A heated roll allows for more depth and clarity on the embossed strap and also allows the embossed area to develop a rich patina reminiscent of hand tooled work.

1, Diameter of ropes and cords

The diameter of the rope you have selected will affect not only the minimum breaking strength, but also abrasion resistance, handling characteristics, weight. In productions of normal static climbing ropes and dynamic climbing ropes, we recommend below sewing capacity:

2, Thread size and needle size


Seam strength is greatly dependent on thread strength (thread type and size), and thread size must match up the needle size. When select thread type and size for your rope sewing production, the needle size should be taken into consideration.

High performance ropes with sewn terminations must be bar-tacked with proper needle size and thread size. If you stitch small Kernmantle ropes with big needle, the oversize needle holes will damage rope fiber itself. And if you stitch big Kernmantle ropes (have high rope tensile strength) with small needle, you have to increase stitch count (need longer production time) for obtaining the specific strength and safety.

3, Seam length


The seam length will definitely effect on the breaking strength of fiber ropes. If you are to join two ropes with long seam, an extended clamp may be required, also you design an unsewn area at the middle for saving bobbin thread and production time, if the rope tensile strength exceeds specific standard.

To make sure high seam strength, the third bar tacking stitch usually go over the center of both 2 Kernmantle ropes, for example: the seam width of 16mm Kernmantle ropes should be 17mm-19mm. So the zigzag width of bar tacking machine should be considered.

5, Stiffness of fiber ropes

For some extra rigidity & cut resistance synthetic fiber ropes (like high density fiberglass rope), if you are not sure the needle penetration force of bar tack sewing machine, please send some rope samples to our industrial sewing application center for testing, before order.

The challenging sewing task for climbing ropes is high stitch density (number of stitches per inch). For the ultimate in strength and safety, climbing and security ropes manufacturers usually go over the bar tacking for 3 times, and with 2-3 reverse stitches (back tacking) at beginning and end of seam, causing the stitch to have an x-like form. Thus the extremely high stitch density will greatly harden the ropes, especially when do the third bar tacking. For most climbing ropes makers who have been using Hightex heavy duty programmable bar tacking sewing machines, we suggest longer stitch length (to less stitch density) on the first and second bar tacking, then make the third bar tacking with tight stitch length (for superior strength, durability, excellent stitch pattern and uniformly tight stitch formation).

When writing climbing and security rope specifications, you should not neglect specifying the proper number of stitches per inch that should be used in your ropes and cordage. Why? Because the number of stitches per inch can have a direct influence on the seam strength and stitch appearance.

Obviously, the seam strength is dependent on a number of factors including: 1) thread strength (thread type and size); 2)stitch count (number of stitches per inch); 3)weakening material from piercing with needle (type & weight of the Fabric); 4)pattern of sewing; 5) stitch balance (thread tensioning).

Generally, the more stitches per inch, the greater the seam strength, but it takes longer time in production. Furthermore, there are rare cases where adding stitches per inch can actually damage the rope fibers so that the seam is weakened, however, this only happens on specific rope fibers that can be damaged by excessive needle penetrations.

2, Size of sewing area


The maximum working area of pattern sewing machine determines the maximum sewing area you can obtain. You should double check the maximum reinforced stitching area you need, both length (X) and width (Y) must be within range of machine’s working area.

Some people intend to purchase one large area programmable pattern sewing machine for stitching both small size and large size products, it is really NOT a good idea. Small area programmable pattern sewing machine is better for small area reinforcement stitch (like seat belts and harnesses). If you are to sew small item with large area programmable pattern sewing machine, you might compromise on production efficiency and seam quality.

3, Construction of sewn products

In the production of lifting slings and lashing straps (Ratchet Tie Down), reinforcement stitching area usually close to both edges of slings & straps, for obtaining ultimate seam strength. But when manufacture life vest, fall protection, safety equipment, safety harnesses, bulletproof vest carrier, body armor, Aircraft Arrestor Tapes (tapes for aircraft arrester gear), upholstery, and parachute harness etc, you need to consider the rest material besides reinforced area. The machine must have enough clearance room for passing the rest materials.


Especially when sewing parachute harness, there is almost a necessity to have customized clamps: on the buckles where there is zero distance between the sewing pattern and the clamp because they require a tight connection between the webbing and buckle.

4, Thread size

Safety is top priority for slings, straps and harnesses for protecting people and property, heavier sewing threads are always used in the production. The hook type of pattern sewing machine determines the maximum sewing thread size that the machine can process. Also the thread size must match up needle size. If you produce webbing slings and straps with different size of threads, it is better purchase different size of needles together with machine.

5, Stiffness of the slings & straps

In view of same material and thickness, the linear density and stitch density have great effect on stiffness of the slings & straps.

If you are to sew over 15mm thick webbing slings with extra high linear density, the needle penetration force of sewing machine must be taken into consideration.

Seam strength is determined by: 1) thread strength (thread type and size); 2)stitch count (number of stitches per inch); 3)weakening material from piercing with needle (type & weight of the Fabric); 4)pattern of sewing; 5) stitch balance (thread tensioning). If the stitch density (stitch length and line distance) sets too high, the synthetic fiber slings will become extremely hard and stiff, the thread will tend to break during sewing operation and the machine may be overload.

6, Hardware

Hardware including Ratchet, shackles, thimbles, choker triangles and others can be sewn into the slings for varying applications. If you need to attach hardware onto slings & straps, the pictures, detailed dimensions and weight of your metal parts should be provided for recommending right machine. You can consider 72600PLK high speed automatic pattern tacking machine. And if you use heavier sewing threads, BARREL Shuttle pattern sewing machine is the only choice.
